Chris Brown had his probation revoked on Monday (July 15) by a judge in Los Angeles after the singer was charged in a May hit-and-run traffic accident. The Grammy-winning singer was released on his own recognizance and will have a hearing on August 16 to determine whether or not he has violated the terms of his probation. A violation could land him in jail. The 24-year-old R&B singer is on probation for criminal assault after pleading guilty to beating then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. He was sentenced to five years probation, 180 days of community service and domestic violence counseling. On Monday, the Los Angeles County Attorney's office asked the judge to revoke Brown's probation because of the hit-and-run charges in which he allegedly rear-ended another car. Earlier in the day, Brown's legal team and the alleged victim filed a declaration to have the charges relating to the hit-and-run dismissed. The singer was charged last month with misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving without a valid license in connection with a traffic accident in May.
