Tom: Hi! I’m Tom MacCubbin! Welcome to HisAndHersGardening.com. Today, I want to take you to a little tour of Joani’s…
Oh here she comes! Well there is Joani with here cart full of goodies here.
Joani: You didn’t wait for me.
Tom: Why should I wait for you? You know, we’re getting started here while all the things are in your cart. Look at all these goodies that you brought along.
Joanie: This is what I bring out every time I come, every time..
Tom: And you do it the same way also.
Joanie: I do
Tom: It’s really kind of neat
Joani: I know.
Tom: So, let’s just show folks what it takes for you to keep your side in good shape.
Joani: Okay! I’ll start here, first of all this is my favorite rake.
Tom: Look at that little rake.
Joani: Yes, I could go into little areas of the garden, I’m fine. You can put that over there.
Tom: Okay, good, yeah. That’s a neat one there.
Joani: And of course, my edger. I can’t go anywhere without my edger, I can’t do that.
Tom: I know, everywhere. And you can do all for cutting, you edge, you make…
Joani: Clean out weeds
Tom: Clean out weeds and all that type of stuff there.
Joani: Yup! Okay.
Tom: That’s good. Easy to use. I mean, why do you like something like this? I mean it takes an electric cord to go with this here.
Joani: Yeah, we have electric cords around, so it’s fine.
Tom: Yeah, but I mean, is it lighter?
Joani: It’s very easy. I really like it.
Tom: It’s a ladies’ type of thing.
Joani: All of these are ladies yes.
Tom: Okay, what else have we got here?
Joani: Okay. Well, I got my edger. I have to have my edger. I use that around the driveway.
Tom: That has been around for a long time too.
Joani: That has. That’s old.
Tom: They just always complain about not having a sharp blade, which I have to go get done from time to time.
Joani: It takes two years for you to put…
Tom: I know, I know…
Joani: Okay, now this, especially now at this time of the year when you’re trying to clean out that dead stuff that happened to us around the, you know, that freezes, well this thing, this is going to take care of anything. I think it could even take care of a small tree.
Tom: You know, even I have to admit, nice sharp shears are cutting this.
Joani: Absolutely, and clean them once in a while. Use a little bit of Brillo clean, this need to be cleaned but they still work.
Tom: Yeah, and you can take a file and sharpen them a little bit too. What else have we got?
Joani: These are regular pruners, they’re fine.
Tom: Good ones. And this is an ergonomic type because it’s got a little gear right there that makes it a lot easier on your work when you go like that there. I like too. This is one of my favorites.
Joani: This one!)
Tom: I know, you really use this.
Joani: Yes! I use this a lot. I tell you what, you know I really don’t care that much for snakes. And if I’m not sure where I want to prune, I can reach down inside and clip it out and I don’t see any snakes if there even are any in the first place.
Tom: Yeah, nice long one. You know, even if you’re going into a shrub that’s got thorns on it or something like that, this works out well.
Joani: Like Bougainvillea, especially
Tom: There you go, nice long handle. And for somebody that can’t reach very well also, handicapped. That’s a good one. Okay what else you’ve got?
Joani: Okay. If you’ve made a mess and you don’t want to get your nice new nails messed up, you could use this as a little rake and you could pick it up and put it in your trash can. It’s a two for here. And if you’re on the side walk or the driveway, you scrape it using the flat edges and you get the little bit of dirt and stuff.
Tom: You even let me use them every once in awhile.
Joani: Occasionally.
Tom: That’s kind of neat yeah. 2 bucks, folks, we found these for 2 bucks, what a deal.
Joani: And of course, a kneeling pad, every knows what a kneeling pad is.
Tom: And, here we go.
Joani: Oh yes, the little radio. It goes with me everywhere I go. I attach it to the trees or whatever.
Tom: Yeah, can tune in Better Homes and Gardens on our Saturday mornings.
Joani: Because we’re usually there.
Tom: Yeah, we’re there during the program. But this is neat. You can have your own music there.
Joani: Andro. I can’t go anywhere without that in Florida.
Tom: Here’s some of your favorite stuff.
Joani: Raid, you know, when you run into a little hornets nest. Always go out that way.
Tom: Joani is bug bait.
Joani: Yes I am.
Tom: If you want to test out a bug product, send it to us and we’ll put it on her because you are bug bait.
Joani: And the best things I have and I will not be without them is my purple gloves, they’re called Fox gloves! What a great name. And they’re purple and get them in all colors.
Tom: And one last thing I found is a sprayer, notice how she puts it onto the cart right on the side. So it’s always there with her little bit of weed killer that she can use. Great job Joani. Okay get to work.
Joani: Hey! Why are we sitting here relaxing, get back and start your weeding…
Tom: That’s what I’m doing, relaxing. That’s all for now. Join us next time for HisandHersGardening.com.
