Still images of Dave BrubeckVOICE-OVER SCRIPT:Pioneering jazz pianist and composer Dave Brubeck has died.His quartet produced one of the most recognizable and enduring jazz pieces in Take Five, which was full of exotic and challenging rhythms that has since become a standard in the American songbook.The album it was on, Time Out, was in fact the first ever million-selling Jazz LP.He was also the first modern jazz musician to be pictured on the cover of Time magazine.His career, though spanned more than that one song.He played for President Ronald Reagan and Soviet Leader Mikhail Gorbachev in Moscow in the 80s.He also composed music for operas, ballets and a Catholic Mass.He toured up until a few years ago and in 2009 was awarded a Kennedy Center Honor.His family says he died Wednesday of heart failure.Dave Brubeck was 91 years old.SIGOUT - Name/Associated Press
