But analysts are wondering if this year’s Super Bowl MVP is really worth the money.   Flacco had played out his previous contract at $6.7 million per year. The new deal will pay him $168,908 on average each day of the regular season. [Video: ESPN ]   Early on in the season, Grantland’s Bill Barnwell made a lengthy case calling Flacco overvalued when you look past anecdotal evidence and study the numbers. He wrote:   “For whatever good or bad Flacco provides, he has spent his entire career as the starting quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens, who perennially possess one of the league’s best defenses. He also has … a solid running game to go alongside him...”   The 28-year-old Flacco provides an interesting case study for anyone comparing a player’s reputation and “hero-status” to actual statistics.   On one hand, he’s racked up more wins than any other quarterback in the last five seasons; and he’s never once missed a start during that time. Those numbers lag behind many of his colleagues. Who is laughing now?”   ESPN’s Adam Schefter had reported Thursday Flacco was aiming to become the NFL’s highest-paid player — or else take a walk to a new team. Friday’s news confirmed he got his wish.   Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints previously held the highest league salary, after inking a contract seven months ago worth $100 million over five years.
