Hi! I am David Epstein. Welcome to Growing Wisdom.
I want to introduce you today to Enkianthus, a wonderful plant and this particular one Enkianthus Perulatus is just a beautiful plant, which has really three arguably four seasons of interest.
Now, right now in the spring, wonderful little bell shaped flowers absolutely spectacular. The leaves are interesting this nice elongated shape to them, nice and tight. A wonderful lime green color looked really wonderful next to a darker green conifer.
Later on in the fall, this will change to an amazing brilliant orange-red, and it is just one of the most spectacular full colored plants you can find.
And finally, in winter the structure of the plant is also pretty fabulous with the snow laid on it, so it looks really great. This particular plant will do well in a well drained soil. It likes sunshine especially to really get that brilliant full color and also all of these wonderful spring time blooms.
So the Enkianthus Perulatus is just a great plant. You do not want to put this near your foundation. It will get too big and it will start hiding some of your house, but it is a wonderful specimen plant for a nice section of the garden.
