Male: Installing a stone patio like this one adds a cool wild factor to any back yard. After deciding on the size, and selecting stones for the patio, excavate the area and prep the base with a layer of compacted gravel about three to four inches thick. Then cover with a layer of coarse sand for proper drainage.
With the gravel work laid, begin placing the patio stones beginning with the perimeter and work inward. Beat stones with a rubber mallet to secure them in place. Check for level after each stone is firmly in. Keep the size of the joints uniform for a clean look. Use a chipping hammer to shape stones for consistency.
For an added custom touch, keep a few joints open and plant moss in the opening. Once the patio is in place, sweep sand across the top to fill into joints then sweep away any excess.
Finally bring in some outdoor furniture and cool patio accessories. Now you’ve got a cool and custom place for your cook outs or just hanging out right in your own backyard.
