Sukhoi Superjet-100 taking off on its last flightSCRIPTSearch teams who scaled a volcano's steep slopes in Indonesia have found at least a dozen bodies near the wreckage of a Russian-made Sukhoi Superjet-100 that crashed.Pictures from a distance showed what appeared to be the plane's tail with the blue-and-white Sukhoi logo and other bits of twisted metal scattered along the slope like confetti.Rescue crews had a challenge even reaching the site. Fog and rugged terrain prevented a helicopter from being able to evacuate any of the bodies that were found...ravines and steep cliffs also made it impossible for crews to reach others that they spotted.Back in the capital, the head of the national search and rescue agency spoke to a packed news conference and offered condolences to the families of the victims.President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (soo-SEE'-loh BAHM'-bahng yoo-doo-YOH'-noh) met with some of them, then said he's spoken with Russian president Vladimir Putin, who also offered his condolences.SOTThe jet had successfully completed one demonstration flight on the day it crashed. Around 20 minutes into its second such flight, with representatives from local airlines and journalists on board, the pilots had asked for permission to drop altitude and shortly afterward slammed into the dormant Mount Salak volcano.
