How are prison camps different from regular prison? Prison camps are different from regular prisons because they usually have no bars on the windows, you have what they call non-controlled movement, which means you can basically walk wherever you would like to majority of the time. When you are in a higher security facility, you have controlled movement, which means that you have to be approved to go wherever you are going and you will have controlled movement, usually on the hour every hour. So they differ in that, they also differ in security. Guards are not usually armed in the prison camps, they are armed in the higher level securities and there is no fence or bars or anything that you can see that will distinguish it. That it looks like a prison, it doesn't really look like a prison, but it is.
