I wanted to take a look at the mobile phone on the market today. It’s called the HTC touch. And as you can see here, it’s a very sleek and mobile device.
Well first, let’s get the specs out of the way. It’s got a 201 megahertz processor and it’s got a 128 megabytes of built-in RAM. It’s got a 2.8-inch touch screen on it and no keyboard you’ll notice right away.
One of the things I thought was interesting is that it came out at a great time when the iPhone first launched and wasn’t available in Canada yet. This phone actually had a great opportunity to take a market share because it really is similar to the iPhone especially in the way that you can navigate through that touch screen, that big nice screen.
Let me show you how this thing works. It also has a built-in 2.0 megapixel camera. And as you can see here when I go into camera mode, I get a beautiful big display for taking pictures. And in playback mode, I get a beautiful screen for actually looking at my pictures. And if you watch it, the navigation and how it works, I can look at the picture. I can change the page and this really makes the usability easy to share.
It does use the Windows Mobile 6 Technology which I do like as an operating system, but one of the things that I didn’t like was that essentially, without the keyboard sending text messages and typing emails from our business perspective, it wasn’t really that great. I also have heard from some of my friends that a lot of these devices in the initial—when they first came out had some problems and there’s been a lot of warranties on them.
That being said as a version of a mobile phone especially if you’re looking at multimedia like listening to songs, taking pictures, and watching movies, it’s a great device. Look for the second version as it comes out, it’s called the HTC touch. This one’s from Bell.
If you want some other smart phone options, well, you’ll also want to check these out.
