Hello. Today, I'm going to briefly show you how to use the XSane Image Scanning Program which is built in Ubuntu. Instantly, I'm using the HP DeskJet F4280 all in one printer scanner which Ubuntu detects and configures out of the box.
So to get this program, you go to applications, graphics and go to the bottom of that, XSane Image Scanning Program, click on that. It’s scanning for devices, choose the device, and click ‘OK’. Now, as you can see these three windows here well you don’t need a histogram. So, all you do is click on window and un-tick ‘Show Histogram’ and make sure it less clot the screen really when you don’t need it was a—the default image setting can be changed here. It depends on what you want. You can have JPEG, PNG, etcetera. I usually go for JPEG so zoom in that.
Now, you can change it if you want to change it to grayscale, you can change it here or colored. It’s up to you. So, all you need to do now, you need to just to click on here, ‘Acquire Preview’ just to make certain that’s the image or rather the document is correctly aligned. So, just Acquire Preview.
Well, the magazine color seems to be quickly aligned. It’s not upside down. It’s not crooked so I'm happy enough for that now. So, I’m going to scan it now. Just click on scan here. That’s really fast. And it takes a couple of seconds to scan the documents and is really good.
So now, all you need to is click on File and save image. And the default is called “out” so you can change that to “Scan1” for example. And you can choose your folder. I usually go to the desktop and click Save. And just close it all down.
And that’s the actual scanned documents here. Just double click on that. That’s it. It’s a nice clear scanned document there and it scanned very quickly. It’s a really nice picture program.
