Hello. Earlier on today, I did a video on installing extra software packages so that you could install those programs. The program I demonstrated is this XPMC Media Center, and after looking at it, it’s a really, really good media center player, very impressed with it.
I’m just going to open it up and briefly show you around it. I don’t know that much about it, it’s brand new to me but just to basically introduce to you. I’ve already installed it as you saw in my previous video; I’m just going to load it up now, and this is what you’ll get when you first load it up. The video tab, music tab, picture, weather, scripts, and setting. I haven’t played around with the setting too much but I’ll just click on there to show you. The way to navigate this is to the left and right buttons on your mouse.
There are various options there and I don’t know much about it really so I’m not going to mess around. Now to navigate back, you have to right click on the mouse.
For music, visualization, open gl, there’s a few other scrolls, the nice one is open_gl spectrum that’s quite nice. And to again this – your various functions there about importing libraries that sort of thing and CD reaping. As I said, I don’t know much about that so I’ll just skip that and just return to the previous. And again, I have to right click on the menu and you copy here, just do that.
There’s a picture option here. Do slideshows, okay, these are just settings really because the default, it shows instruments in nine seconds, you can change that as you like really, and the transition time, you can change that too. It also has a pan and zoom effects, you can disable that if you want but I wouldn’t because it’s really nice. So again, we go back.
And your weather option there, you can change area codes here, and this is the nearest city to me but you can change it just click on it. You want to enter nearest large town. Let’s just say it’s London, UK. I’ll click on that and just go back.
I’ve got network so I won’t going to look at that one.
Then system, there is options here, again you don’t need to worry about hardware because Linux sets if all for you anyway. It’s got options here about auto playing DVDs, audio CDs etc. so go back there.
And appearance, where you can change the themes and colors right there, and the screen saver there. I’m just going to go back again.
I’ll just show you things slide show’s got. I already imported some pictures. So I just click on that and click on slide show. I’ve got some nice effects there. Now, I’ll just stop that and again go back.
I’ll just show you how to play music. Let’s see what I’ve got now. I’ve got a folder on the desktop and just play tracks.
Now for visualization just click on the desktop and that’s that. So, I’m just going to go back now. And to actually go back , you’re going to click on music and press stop here and then right click on to go back to the main menu.
I’m doing videos, so I’ll do videos now. If you want to watch a video clip, just click add source or the DVDs there. Click browse and look for the click on folder desktop, let’s see what I’ve got in there. There’s non actually listed there is something there. just click OK. Click OK and it states that there’s something on that folder that’s an flv file and you just to play that. Here you go, you’ll going to do but I’ll it Romeo this time then. Let’s start from the begging.
Again, this nice larger screen is there so you get a miniature screen, which you have to widen yourself with VLC media player when you can maximize it I know but this, is a default for you, it’s really nice.
It might be my imagination, but the pictures seem to be better. Better quality. I’ll stop that there. I don’t know how to. I can’t seem to stop it, press Esc, there we are.
Right, so that’s about it really. It’s just a very, very basic introduction. As I say its barnd new to me. As you see I don’t know the various methods of closing, as you can clearly see but it’s well trying it. I advice you to try it out if you can, its really nice. Its better to than VLC media player and its better that Tutum, it’s not available in Ubentu.
