Now what we are constructing here is the homepage. So to save us a little bit of typing, I got a file with some text in it that we can just paste on in and we can try out some other properties of text fields. So let me use the Alt tab, but of course that will be command tab on the Mac. I will go out to my Desktop folder and I have already got it opened up to the Part 1 Lesson 5 folder. And there you can see the two text files; one for the home content and one for the contact section content. So I am just going to double click on home and there we have got a few little pieces of text that we can drop into our page.
So I will just select each one these three. There we have got a tagline at the top. Copy them in my text page and like I said, just save ourselves a little bit of typing. I will Alt tab back over to flash and we will just drag out a text field. And we can see our settings down here are the same as the last time we use this, so let me change things around before we paste.
I am just going to change the font to the not quite so bold version Neuropol. I will change the size to 12. We can always make it bigger if we need to. We will switch back to black text and finally, we should turn off superscripting and put it back to normal. And now we can just paste our text on into the field.
Now let us go back to our text file and grab the other two and do the same thing with them. I will Alt tab over to notepad and I will grab the second batch here. Do a quick copy and Alt or command tab back to flash. I still got my text tool and my settings so I just need to click once to clear the selection and drag out a new field. This time, I am only going to go about half way across the screen and paste. And then we will go get one more. Alt or command tab again to our notepad, we will copy and then we will Alt or command tab back to flash. We will click to clear our selection and click and drag to create a new field and paste.
And now, we got all of our text dropped into the content section and we can start manipulating some of the text properties. Now, I am going to switch back to my selection tool. We have already seen that we can make changes to our text by using this tool. And one of the nice thing we can do is we can use multiple fields and make changes to all the fields at once.
Now when looking at the Neuropol font, I am thinking that the bold one might look a little bit better on our stage so let us switch all three of these fields at once to the Neuropolitical font. And there you can see we got a lot more readability. Now I am just going to switch back to the top field, so I will in click in deselect everything else. We will select just that top field and let us make some changes just to this field itself.
The first thing I want to do is make it just a little bigger than the others. Since it is kind of like a header for the page and I can do that by using my sliding control for size and I will just dial it up so that it is still fit within the box. You can see there, we are going too far and I will just move it up to 14 so that my text still fits within the box. On this text field, it looks a little bit like a list. Let us try out some paragraph settings. For these settings, I am going to need to select the list portion of the text, but I can access the text tool by double clicking on the field and then I can grab all of the list elements. We will click on the paragraph format options button and that will bring up a dialogue that let us change things like indent, line spacing, and margins.
I am just going to use the indent to take this list and push it over to the right a little bit. And that way we can kind of see a difference between the heading and the list. For each one of these fields, I can also control the wrapping by going directly to the handles that we see here. I am just going to switch back to my selection tool and I can grab the whole of these handles and change the wrapping of the field directly.
While we also have the selection tool, I would also like to take advantage of the alignment snaps that we saw before. Now we move it to the right for just a second and grab it from this top corner. There you can see those align in object snaps allowing me to line this text field up directly with that text field without any guides.
Now let us just clean up our news flash text field. I am going to use the handles to stretch it out just a little bit on both sides. There, we are getting a little bit better text wrapping and there is one other setting that we do not see down on the property window directly, but let me just pan up to the top here and select our original title. And I am going to switch over to the filters menu. We have used filters on movie clips but filters are also directly useable right on top of text. So let us try this one out. I am just going to add a simple glow to the back of our company name. I will choose kind of a bright yellow color and that should give it a kind of a gold glow here. And you see we can play at the blur settings and the strength settings just like we did on movie clips.
So I will add a very subtle glow just to emphasize the title. And of course you can use all of the filter settings on any of the text fields that we have made so far.
