Butterscotch Tutorial
Use satellite view in Google Maps on your BlackBerry.
Michael E. Callahan: Hi, this is Mike Callahan, Dr. File Finder, and welcome to your butterscotch.com tutorial on using the satellite view in Google Maps on your BlackBerry.
So, here on my BlackBerry Bold, I've got the Google Maps icon highlighted, press the trackball, do that now, and then we'll see the map. Now, of course by default, Google Maps default to map view. You can see all the roads and highways and even railroad tracks in here. But they also have a way to see it in satellite view, and to me satellite view gives you a unique perspective and allows you to see things in a way that you don't normally see them on just a map.
So in order to go satellite view, click the BlackBerry Menu button and that comes up. Scroll down to satellite view, push the trackball or touch the touch screen on your BlackBerry storm and you see, we're over Gallatin Tennessee but we're seeing in a whole new way. You press the I key on your keypad, it zooms in and if you press the O key it zooms back out.
So you can see here, we see streets, we still see the street names but we also see fields and forests and neighborhoods. If we scroll down away, shouldn't have to go very far, we'll go in that's the Cumberland River, now, we'll go in little closer and one more time, here we're Cumberland River, you could even see a boat on the water. You can get feelings for the depth changes in the water, you could see the shoreline, you can see roads. If we go in one more time, you can even see that, shows you the road names, street names. So that you not only get all this great detail but its look like a skier just fell down here. But it gives you great information, I find it's great for helping to teach geography or even to understand the geography of an area of myself.
So this is Google Satellite View in Google Maps, we'll zoom back out. Head back on up towards Gallatin. Now, to get out of satellite view just click the Google Menu button again and go down to map view, press the trackball or touch screen and now you see we are back in map view but it doesn't look like its cool to me as the satellite view does but it is powerfully handier for navigating streets. So that satellite view in Google Maps on your BlackBerry and that's all there's to it.
