Hello out there. Welcome to Total Training's Photoshop CS3 Essentials. I am Chad Perkins, an Adobe Certified Instructor and expert in Photoshop. But even more than that, I am just a huge Photoshop fan.
What could we do with Photoshop? Well, I am glad you asked. Using Photoshop obviously we can correct common image problems, red-eye, unwanted blemishes, color problems, brightness problems and so on. But what many people don't realize is that we could also use Photoshop to create beautiful digital paintings, create synthetic photo realistic textures and other special effects. Sort and organize photos, rotate around 3D documents, play and edit video, create entire websites and now you could even use Photoshop to develop screensavers and other content for your cellphone, and all this from this one software package.
Photoshop CS3 introduces two versions of Photoshop, the standard version we have been using for years and now the extended version. The extended version allows us all the features of Photoshop standard and adds some very advanced measurement tools and the ability to edit 3D files, video and certain file formats for the medical industry.
In this series, I will be using the extended version. But we won't be getting into any features that are specific to this version. In other words, if you are using the standard edition of Photoshop you won't be missing anything although your screen may look different at times.
Photoshop is used in so many industries that are next few hours together could potentially change your entire career path. You will learn, you will probably laugh, probably more at me than with me and your job will drop to the floor as you discover what is possible with Photoshop CS3.
In this lesson we are just going to take a brief tour of what's possible in Photoshop. It's not a hands-on lesson like the others will be. You could follow along if you would like but I am going to go through this pretty quickly and I will be explaining my every move. So now that the Intro mumbo jumbo is out of the way we are ready to get into the program and behold the glory that is Photoshop CS3.
