I really appreciate it guys, you’re my inspiration, my subscribers. I do look to message you all but I’m taking the time to that. I got school, I got work, and I’m hoping to get better. And also my other videos, I’ll be making more videos soon as long as I get well. Well, this is just a quick video for you so lets get on with it.
Okay, basically, this command or this trick or tip is to turn off the autoplay on your CD roms or other drives for that matter. The purpose of this is if you are annoyed by you know you’re doing something pop in a CD basically, it hangs your computer or it automatically installs something or play something and its just bugging you. So basically this command will turn that off and you will have to control when you will install the program or when will you will start that particular media. Enough talk.
To do that just go to start then go to run and then type in the following GPEDIT.MSC hit Ok. And this window should pop up. You go to Computer Configuration then Administrative Templates, then go to System. Now you scroll down to Turn Off AutoPlay and this window should pop up. So you can read an explanation here on how it works. Basically, you have options here like Not Configured, Enabled, and Disabled. If you select Enabled, you will turn off the autoplay on your CD rom drives or turn off Autoplay on all drives including your USB and your diskette drive for that matter or your A drive for that matter. If you select disabled then your Autoplay, as long as your CD or your removable disk has it, it will automatically play or install whatever it is that it contains. That’s when you select disable. I want to insert in the Autoplay off, so I’ll just select Enabled and then Apply. I’m just concerned with the CD-ROM drive. I’m satisfied with this setting and I’ll hit Aplly.
To quickly demonstrate to you guys, I’m going to demonstrate to you guys, I’m going to insert in a DVD CD. Lets check, now I have control over my CD on when I’m going to play it, or if is a program CD, when I’m going to install it. I think that is pretty cool. As you can see, I go to My Computer and my DVD is on. I’m just going to play this using Windows Media Player. This is just a SpongeBob cartoon. I’m just going to show you quickly and there you go.
That’s how you turn off the Autoplay in Windows XP. Again, thanks for watching this video guys, I do hope to get better because I am still sick as I had said.
