Dr. Travis: Will you please tell me why the color of a nipple matters? Or what’s normal or not normal?
Dr. Liza: I certainly will. And this is so important for women because this is part of your normal self breast exam. You also need to look t your breasts and it’s very important, alright because there’s nipple changes now.
Nipples and the areola, which is the, around the nipple can have different color based on your race, your color obviously. Yours will look different from mine. Now what you want to look for, as far as abnormalities, is it that changes into deeper colors or also the texture of the skin changes if it gets thicker, if it gets scaly. You also need to look at your nipples as well because there’s a certain breast disease called Paget’s disease that can also happen around breasts. You’ve got to know to your breasts. You’ve got to look and you’ve got to see those changes.
Dr. Travis: So what I’ve learned in the segment is green is not good for wounds or it’s your nipple color.
Dr. Liza: There is not this really right or wrong color, it sort of depends on who you are and what’s going on with your body.
