Amy Salinger: Hello and welcome to this edition of Sass N Style. We are going to utilize Erin's closet again because we already know how much we like it plus she is adorable, looks great in clothes and well, she is a good sport. We're going to jump in your closet yet again. Into the closet! Alright I love that you're jumping into the closet right now.
You know you have a lot of great, different fun pieces in here. We already talked about your grandma's 70's, this shirt. I want to do something that's a little bit sexier. Alright I got it, I finally found what I want to use. I don't think it can get much sexier than this little tiny sheath dress. There ain't a lot of room for a lot going on in this, but aint that point of this particular item.
If this doesn't set you apart from the cut, I don't know what will. I am going to show you how to dress this up from going to the office, believe it or not this will be appropriate for the office when I am done because I am a miracle worker. And then I am going to show you the easier side of it and that is how to bring it out at night. We're going to make you up some fantastic looks and make you recession proof fabulous. Let's go try it!
Here is my favorite reason why we chose this dress, and drum roll please? Where did you get this dress?
Erin: Forever 21
Amy Salinger: And how much was this dress?
Erin: $19.
Amy Salinger: Erin what year were you born?
Erin: 1980.
Amy Salinger: Thank you! It was $19.80 cents, wasn't it?
Erin: Yes! $19.80.
Amy Salinger: That was a whole joke that we talked about beforehand. You ruined it!
I know you guys have Forever 21. They are in every mall across the United States. You've got to be careful when you go in there because you're like, oh my god it's only $15, oh my god it's only $10. That doesn't mean you should buy it.
I am showing you this dress because I want to show you how something that could appear to be tacky, can actually look really fantastic if you style it correctly and it fits you correctly.
Basic sheath we have going on here. Sheath dress is always in because it's simple and it's basic, it's to the point and it's great for layering, under-layering, over.
Forever 21 is someone I'll hit the nail on the head and that could fit perfect on the dress. Obviously it helps if Erin is a size 2-4. That's well a family, I don't know that ladies, why are we always trying to lose 5 lbs.
But a sheath dress can really show your curves if you choose a thicker material. A lot of times it's a lot more flattering for you. This sweetheart neckline really does look fantastic on most ladies as long as your bust isn't too big, as long as you don't have what we like to refer to MYVD, I mean ladies as armpit fat and back fat, never a good thing. The black tight and the black pointed pump are keeping it vampy on the bottom half.
The great part about this is that you really need to tone down the bottom a half of this outfit. If you are going to have such a crazy dress, you really can do a bare-leg otherwise it starts to look kind of tacky and street walkery. This way you're toning it down and making it appropriate but it still keeping it vampy with a pointed toe, pattern leather pump.
So right now I am going to show you just by learning on some jewelry and some simple pieces how we are going to go from sexy date into work. So let's go over here, first I've this pretty simple sparkly ring, Banana Republic. Read accessories at Banana Republic.
When the base of your outfit is this funky and overwhelming you need to keep the rest of it fairly simple. First we are going to layer on this simple beaded necklace that she had.
I like a little bit of color going on with the leopard print but it's not overwhelming. Word of this outfit, do not overwhelm the dress. So overwhelm is the word not sentence.
Then we have a longer necklace, you go ahead and throw that on. Okay! So here is a where you'll get a vampy-sexy look. We've added a little bit of color here and I like that it's breaking up the neckline of the sweetheart neckline right here and kind of playing at the middle.
We are going to take this blazer that she has, it's very Jackie-O style. I like that because it's shorter, we are able to see her waist so it's a little bit craft. Now a fun little story about this jacket is that, oh, look here, we are missing a button. We are not really missing a button. We have this button right here, it needs to be glued back on here.
This is one of those things that a lot of people are like, something falls off, they throw it in the back of their closet and they are like oh yeah, yeah, I'll get to it. Well, I am giving Erin a reason to glue this button back on because she has this fabulous outfit that tacky, not tacky, just by buttoning this jacket closed. It's amazing, it is literally going to change up this whole look into a pencil-skirt.
It's got a little bit of fun with the print, but at the same time she is completely covered and proper. Yet again we're pulling in her big work bag because this bag, it's making it more work appropriate because it's a little bit bigger. But the fun part, I am going to make you take off the jacket again, is that when you take off the jacket, it goes along with the eclectic feel of the night time look as well. You look fabulous! Do you feel fabulous?
