You know, when you’re shopping for tomatoes, there’s a lot to look at these days. There’s cherry tomatoes. There’s barnyard tomatoes. There’s beefsteak tomatoes. And there’s even this new thing that everyone’s talking about, which are heirloom tomatoes.
Now, heirloom tomatoes are exactly that. They’re an heirloom bridal. The seeds inside the tomato haven’t been changed or manipulated in at least 50 years. Some bridals are at least 200 years old.
Now, they come in all shapes and sizes. They’re purple. They’re red. They’re even green zebra-striped. The flavors are phenomenal. And they can be a little more expensive, but they’re well worth it in the taste. And they’re great with sliced mozzarella cheese, a little bit of basil, extra virgin olive oil and salt. And they’re really good on a BLT.
