Expression Web also makes it very easy to set Hyperlinks. Something you will do over and over and over as you create Web pages. But before we can link to another web page we have to have another web page, so let us just do a quick review. New html and create a new page and let us just put a little text on here so when we link to it we will know that we have come to the right page.
Do you know how to get gum out of hair? I figure if I was going to encourage you to blow giant bubbles like this. The least I could do is give you this tip. If you ever get gum in your hair or anyone you know does, here is the secret. Really peanut butter, it is a little messy but the combination of the oil and the grit and the peanut butter will work the gum out of your hair. Swear to you it will work, but it may take you a few days to get the oil out of your hair afterwards. Still better than cutting it off though.
Okay, let us save this page and let us call this gum simply, notice that Expression Web is automatically trying to give me a name based on the text that is on this page and it is used underscores not spaces but I can highlight that. Delete it and just type gum and be done with it, so let us call that gum you see it appears in my folder list. By the way when you see this icon instead of a little house that means that is the active page that you are working on and up here you will notice now I have a series of tabs that will show me all the files in my website, my default page and my new gum page.
This little star here tells me that this page has not been saved since I made all these changes, so if I want to preserve this changes I need to control S or file save now to make sure they are saved and anytime you see that little asterisk that is what that means.
So now that I have a page to link to, I can create a link, so let us go down here and where it says yeah. Let us link the word yeah to our tip about getting gum out of your hair. Now there are a number of ways to create link on Expression Web but an easy one is to simply choose insert, hyperlink and then you can just browse to find the page that you want. If it is in the same main folder it is very simple, it should display as soon as you open it up, Click okay and that is now linked.
Now if I want to link this picture to that same page remember right click to find picture properties and here in the Hyperlink section at the bottom of the general tab. You can browse and similarly just fine the name in that file and click okay and it is linked. Now let us preview this so we could actually test that link because the best way to test links is to actually preview the page and the browser and here is another tip. Notice that that asterisk is back, if I try to preview this page without saving it. Expression Web will offer to save my changes for me and you cannot preview a page without saving your changes. So now if I click on that you will see we go to the page that we created and if I click there both of those links work.
