Male: Inside the sea side home an addition created three different rooms that required
three different wall treatments. The walls of the entertainment room downstairs
have a very tactile quality. The color was picking to complement the window
treatments.
Female: Sort of a rock, sand finish which is a great finish just bringing in the environment
of the outdoors into this beautiful from downstairs.
Male: The thick weathered plaster they used there has a sandy texture; it’s applied with
the sea sponge.
Sandra: And what we are going to do is actually dip a sea sponge right into the product
and I get very heavier or a much heavier plaster. Alright and then you are going to
just sponge on this texture on the wall for about 30 seconds or so before you
actually not to get that. And we are just adding a really nice interest.
Male: Sandra uses a flat instrument called the float and then wrap it over the plaster to
flatten the high areas, this is called knocking it back. The color comes from fizzy
pigment tablets that are put in water. Now the ratio is one tablet per eight ounces
of water and it takes about 10 tablets to do a six foot by six foot room.
Sandra: It just by taking you sponge and rubbing that onto the plaster to create to a nice
color way.
Male: Sandra has push very hard, this plaster is thick.
Sandra: The final color is that if you want to add a little bit more texture here you can, the
white actually is going back to the weather plaster the original sponge that we use
and just sponging on vary a lot of time.
Male: This technique gives the wall a little more visual interest, for Sandra, Gina and
Robin the hard work in all the rooms has been worth it.
Sandra: The overall project was great and turn that really, really well, the finishes are
fantastic and we are on schedule and on budget so I’m happy.
Female: The colors were saddle but in there the textures are saddle and be creative a
beautiful different at all.
Sandra: They’re classic, they’re saddle and they’re beautifully, beautifully executed.
