Keeping your windshield clean is one of the most important things you can do to ensure safe driving.
Hi I am Rebecca Braden and welcome to watchmojo.com and today, we will be showing you how to replace your windshield wiper blades. Although seemingly easy, the simple tasks of replacing your windshield wiper blades can be very difficult and frustrating especially the first time.
The windshield wiper blade includes both the rubber wiper as well as the branch to which it is attached. It is best to replace this whole piece as suppose to just the rubber wipers. Find what model and wiper blade to purchase by looking in the reference books where blades are sold.
In the package containing your new windshield wiper blades, you should find three or four different styles of blade attachments. That is the small plastic piece that attaches the new blade to the wiper arm. This piece is found where the arm and blade meet. Verify which type is currently being used on your car and find the new one that matches it for use.
Pull the wiper and arm away from the car so that it is sticking out perpendicular to the windshield. Be careful not to let the wiper arm snap back to the windshield while it has no blade attached, this could crack the windshield.
Now, to remove the wiper from the arm, there are various different styles of wiper blades. For example where the blade and arm meet, there might be a small tab you can depress with the screwdriver to ease removal of the wiper. Remove this attachment from the blade and attach the new. Mount the blade unto the windshield wiper arm and put the arm back into place. Test your work by turning on the wipers. The blade should not slip, and is that is the case, you may need to reattach them more firmly.
