Hi! I am Dr. Lauren with petside.com. Ticks are something that can be a nuisance to both you and your pet. They carry diseases such as lime disease which can make your pet very ill. It's probably best to prevent ticks in the first place. You can do this with the topical liquid that lasts about a month or a tick collar which lasts about three months. If your pet does get a tick, I am going to show you a safe way to remove it.
It's a good idea to check your pet daily for ticks. If you do find one, you want to remove it carefully. What you should do is find the tick and then grab it as close as you can to your pet's skin. Then you pull it out so you make sure that you've gotten all of the parts. Then you can just take the tick and safely dispose it by flushing it down the toilet. So what you want to do is find a tick on your pet's skin and get a pair of tweezers. Then, like I said, you just want to grab the tick as close to your pet's skin as possible and quickly pull it out.
I am Dr. Lauren at petside.com, if you have any questions about ticks, or anything else, feel free to email me at DrLauren@petside.com.
