How to Prepare Lemongrass

Lemon grass is one of the most important flavorings in Asian cooking particularly in Thailand it has a subtle lemony flavor and aroma and is delicious in marinates curries and soups lemon grass has a woody texture so the only part that is generally use the bottom white part.

The green stalk itself is too tough and too hard to eat to release its flavor lemon grass can be chopped into rounds or finely minced, if you keep the root intact while mincing the lemon grass is much easier to cut.

The lemon grass can be also cut into large pieces and bruised then added whole this way it can be easily removed before serving lemon grass is available in most Asian groceries stores dried powdered or fresh you can also find the pre chop and frozen but I prefer to buy it fresh and freeze it whole and it will last for months this way.
