Next, what I want to do is I want to incorporate another rebounding drill. But I want to use some guards this time and I want to emphasize that the guards “how important it is to crash when you are outside.” I have two guys at the high post and I have two with the low post. I am going throw the ball up the board and when it comes off to the board all four guys are going to go after the ball. What I want to emphasize with this guys are both hands need to be over their head going for the rebound.
We have four sets of four players so we should have eight hands up on that ball when it comes off the board. Whoever gets the rebound will play against the other three people until someone will score. This ought to get really aggressive. This is the type of drill were it is no where to hide, no where to point your finger. The best man is going to win this drill right now.
Okay, guys are you ready? Once it come, block the rim. I want to see eight hands up on the board. Ready gentlemen, let us go. Go get it. Get up. Get up. Hurry up there. Come on stay with. Say with. Say with. Go get it. Get up. Higher! Higher! Good job. Good job. Let us go. Switch your spots around. Switch your spots around. Are you ready? Eight hands up on the ball. Eight hands, ready. Let us go get it. Get up. Get up. Go into the board. Do not fade away. Go strong. Get up. Come on stay with it. Square up the goal. Square up the goal. Take him to the hole. Take him to the hole. Take him strong. Take him strong. Get down and go strong. Good job. Good, okay rotate around. Rotate around. Keep track to your wins. Keep track to your wins.
Ready, eight hands, go get it. Eight hands get up. That is it. That is it. Higher, stay with it. Stay with it, come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. You got to guard him. Power that ball up there. Power up there. Go strong. Go strong. Good, let us go. One more time. Let us go. Ready, last time. Here it comes. Get up. Got to part. Part. Get it up the rim. Go get it. Good.
What we did this time is we got the guards involved and most times guards do not want to get aggressive from the outside and crash. But if you make them get in and then mixed it up. You know that old story, every guard wants to be a big man and every big man wants to be guard. And you will find out that your guards have a lot of heart. And more times than not, they will fight harder and your big men will fight.
