The power snatch is a skill transfer exercise for the full snatch. Performing this movement will allow you to become more technically sound at performing the full snatch, which is the end result that we want. Notice how the bar starts close to my shins. When I explode up, my hips and my shoulders are going to be rising at the same rate and the bar is going to be travelling in a straight line up in the air, close to my body.
As soon as the bar reaches the point to where it's at around my shoulders, I am going to drop underneath the bar as you see right here, splitting my feet slightly apart and catching the bar in the slot position with straight arms. Notice how close the bar is to my body here. This is so my center of gravity isn't thrown off and I don't have to expend additional energy balancing my weight in relation to the bar's weight.
