You know this might be a familiar site on a lot of kitchen counters in homes across Canada. Everyone has cell phone that are lying around, well I came across a device that makes it easier to receive your cell phone calls at home on a more comfortable handset, like a regular corded hand set or a cordless phone.
It’s a device from a company called Extreme Technologies, they’re a Canadian company and its their TeleTouch X link cellular Bluetooth gateway. Yes, I know that sounds like a mouthful but what it allows you to do is actually receive and send your calls from a regular land line phone or a cordless land line phone. Its simple t setup, you can see the device as just a little black box. On the side here you got the power cord, it means power and also a telephone jack and this is where you can plug in a regular land line and again corded or cordless. And to setup each one you can actually hook up three phones to this device, all you have to do is basically choose one of the three slots and I’ve got the number two slot open and I’m going to pair it up to this iPhone and its working via Bluetooth.
So any of these phones, once they’re hooked up can be up to 30 feet away, I’m going to go into the Bluetooth setting section of my iPhone and pretty well every new phone out on the market today has Bluetooth built in and all I have to do is click on the button once. And what’s going to happen is its going to start blinking and now on my phone in a moment here, in a second is it actually popped up here. I can click on the X link gateway then its going to ask me for a pass code which in this case here is 1-2-3-4 and at that point forward my phone is now connected. And so what happens is if someone is phoning into this particular phone, well it will now ring on the land line and so I don’t have to have this thing up against my ear while I’m sitting on the couch.
To show you how it works, I’m going to dial one of these cell phones now and again keep in mind these are attached to the Bluetooth gateway through the Bluetooth connection and what its going to allow me to do is take that call from the cell phone on my regular land line. See, there’s nothing much more comfortable and again the following have to be within 30 feet. Obviously its better if they’re a lot closer but this way you can actually place this thing in the house where your cell reception is the best. So if you have questions, note the phone doesn’t come with the actual unit, you have to provide your own phone and yes you can make outgoing calls and its pretty simple as well. All you have to do is choose which of the phones that you want to call from and again this are all linked, one, two, three so I know that the Sony Ericson one is the first one, so all I have to do is hit one then flash and then the number that I want to dial and I make that call.
From ExtremeTechnologies, called their X link cellular Bluetooth gateway and it’s a great way to make comfortable phone calls when you’re at home with your Bluetooth phone.
