The kitchen is the command center in many households where paper clutter piles up and the biggest culprit is mail. Is this look familiar? Everyday our mailbox is sort of in in-dated with paper so much of what we get in our mail is actually just junk.
The average American receives 49,000 pieces of mail in their lifetime and one-third of that is junk. It’s really important when mail comes in o open it near a trash can. And if you don’t have time to go throughout when you bring it in the house, put it in an inbox so you can keep track of it until you’re really ready to go through it and make sure to choose a shallow container so if it does build up over couple of days, when it reaches the top, you’ll know it’s time that go through it.
23% of Americans don’t pay their bills on time because they missed place their mail. Well, here’s something that can help. This is a great gadget that can organize all of your household bills. It’s numbered one through 31 which gives you the opportunity to place the bill in the slot on the date that is due.
Now this is one due on the 15th but we want to make sure it gets there on time. So we’re going to seek it into the slot that says the eight, this way we mailed it out and they’ll definitely get there.
Catalogs have a way of piling up especially in the kitchen. Be really choosy about what you decide to keep and hang on. Remember, the company is going to send you another one the week or two and if you really want to pair down, you can view all your favorite products online.
There’s another huge source of paper cutter in the kitchen that the stuff that comes from the kid’s backpacks. If you don’t have a way to organize it, you’re in trouble. This is the solution I came up which is a binder. It’s dedicated to all of the kid’s paperwork. I put their names on the side and even though a picture on the front.
There are pockets inside the binder that hold important full information like the school directory paper and absent notes if you need to contact the teacher and then each child has their own section of the binder with the important papers that come on from school get quick. So you just punch all then stick them in. Make sure that you date the papers when you stick them in there so that you can keep current.
You can also use a binder system to help consolidate your recipes. I mean how many times that you saved a magazine because of its one recipe in there that you were interested in trying. But then months later, you find the magazine sitting on the counter, buried under stuff and you wonder, “Why do I save this?” So simply just tear out your recipes from your magazines and slide them in cheaper factors in the binder. You can add different sections in the binder like breakfast, dessert, salads, soups, main courses to keep things organized.
If you stick with the system, you’re liable to pay your bills on time, cuts on, on your paper cutter and your kitchen and maybe you even have time to make that great recipe throughout the magazine last month. I’m professional organizer Liz Witts.
