Ramona Creel: Compartmentalizing your belongings according to purpose is really the key to an organized garage. Labeling is very important because you want to be able to immediately know what is stored in a container without having to take the lid off.
Labeling can even encourage people to stay better organized in the long run because it makes it easier for them to know exactly where to put something back once they have taken it out. Another fun idea for organizing tools is to put a pegboard, hang your tools on the broad and draw an outline around each tool. That way when you take down the hammer. You'll always know where it goes by the hammer shaped outline on your pegboard.
Kits are a great way to keep all of your supplies for one project together. For example, car care items, cleaning supplies and gardening tools. You want to store your supplies in a bucket or other container with the handle so that you can easily carry it around with you from project to project.
When creating effective storage in your garage, categorize it, containerize it and label it, you will think yourself better.
