How to Organize Your Closet for Fall
Audra Lowe: Right now, let’s get organized. The fall season is here but the question is, is your closet ready? It is time to make the room for the boots, the big coats; all those stuff that seem to take up a lot of room, right? Well, Lesley and an expert teamed up to bring you some helpful tips in today’s Getting Organized.
Lesley Nagy: Thanks Audra. That's right. It’s my favorite time of the year. I'm so excited for fall. That’s why I'm joining organization expert Meryl Starr. Now, we are ready to get our closets organized. Thank you for joining us.
Meryl Starr: No problem
Lesley Nagy: I see you are getting prepped and ready. It looks beautiful.
Meryl Starr: Yes, absolutely. It’s fall and it’s time to take out some of the summer wear, replace it with all your fall clothes.
So, the first thing you want to do is just go through right away and pick out some of those things that are spring and summer wear. Take them all out. And now, what we want to do is we want to fill in with some of the things that we are going to wear in the fall. But even before we do that, what I like to do, believe or not is take everything out of the closet and wipe it down, wipe the shelves down, maybe even paint the inside the closet.
Lesley Nagy: You’re right. Your closet always needs to be clean.
Meryl Starr: It does, so change it up a little bit. Take my box that’s filled with all my fall things, my scarves and my hats; time for me to put my fall boots back into the closet.
Lesley Nagy: You have so many coats coming up, long and short. There’s a lot to make room for.
Meryl Starr: Absolutely. This far, I can keep my long hanging, so I have long coats in here. My shorter coats right here and they’re all together. And so, when I need one, you could just grab it right out. It’s important that you have your closet work for you. It doesn’t have to be this color coded or shoe box is, it’s whatever is going to make you feel good.
Lesley Nagy: And where do you recommend putting all the summer clothes?
Meryl Starr: I put most of my summer clothes -- actually I have some under the beds storage.
Lesley Nagy: So now that we are all getting ready for fall, what’s your advice? How can we motivate everyone that they should do this?
Meryl Starr: Because it feels so good, that’s why. And because it’s so important at the change of season to change it up a little bit. So, go ahead, get organized. Get your closets feeling fantastic for the fall.
Lesley Nagy: Yeah because after Labor Day, we don’t need white anymore.
Meryl Starr: Totally!
Lesley Nagy: Great! Thank you so much Meryl. I had a great time
Meryl Starr: You’re so welcome.
Lesley Nagy: For Better, I'm Lesley.
Audra Lowe: Thanks a lot Lesley. Cute boots you’re wearing too, I like those. I’m glad it’s the fall; we can finally break out with cute clothes, right?
