It's always amazing to see just how much you can grow in such a small space. Take my tiny little vegetable garden here. I plant all kinds of things in here in all seasons of the year. The spring is one of my favorite times because I produce lots of salad greens. In this bed, I have got lettuce and two varieties of cabbage, red and green.
Now, the thing I want to point out about this vegetable garden is that, it's all organic. All the treatment that I do in terms of insect control, dealing with pest and fertilizing is all focused on an organic program. For instance, the fertilizers that I use here, if I am not using chicken manure for my chickens, I keep here in the chicken house, I use an organic supplement. I just apply it around the plants and it's particularly important this time of year as they're beginning to emerge.
The great thing about using organic is you don't have to worry about your pets, your friends or your family or your children being out in the garden, and let's face it, if I am going to eat these vegetables, I want them to be as safe as they possibly can be. From the garden, I am Allen Smith.
