Male: It’s another DIY network, yard crashers quick tip.
Ahmed: Mowing a lawn is something I learned how to do a long time ago, so right now I want to give you a few of the basics so that you can have a better understanding and ultimately have a better looking lawn.
First, set your blade height, using between 1½ and 3 inches depending on how high your grass has grown. Typically, a 3rd of the blade of grass is what you want to remove. If you actually cut your grass any lower than that, the grass will stop growing. Cutting in straight lines will help you see where you’ve cut, but switch of the direction everytime you mow. This way each time the grass is not just lying down but you’re actually lifting it and cutting it because you’re switching up your directions. And consider losing the bag to let those clippings fall back on the lawn. This is nothing but water, food, and tissue so it will actually cut down your need for a lot of fertilizer. I guarantee if you try all these techniques, your lawn is going to look a whole lot better and you might even enjoy doing it.
