When it comes to organizing your kitchen, it’s essential to think about your storage space. Corner cabinets like these can be a real challenge in the kitchen. These kind of cabinets are really, really hard to reach. I mean look if I need something back here, I don’t know, that’s not really convenient or easy for me to get to.
Deep cabinets like these often become a dumping ground for all sorts of items. So the first step to organizing is clearing it out. Sort like items together and if it’s an item you haven’t use in two years, put it in a long tern storage or donate it.
You will not believe how much room is in this cabinet now that we cleared it out. I’ve got a great gadget we’re going to install in here to make things much easier to get to. This is a two tiered Lazy Susan, it’s going to give double the storage space and make it really easy for us to access what’s way in the back, perfect.
Check this out. You’re more reaching deep into the cabinet all we do is swing this shelf out. Now only we do one shelf but we have two shelves. So we’ve doubled our space and made it much easier to reach back in here. This cabinet is right next to the stove. So we’ve grouped the light pots and pans together, the things we don’t use that frequently, we still want to store them towards the back of the cabinet. But now we can actually reach them and shut out this gadget, I’m so excited. This holds all the lids. No more digging around through your pots to find the lid that you’re looking for, you just line it up right there.
Now let’s go and check out another section of the kitchen, it often is ignored and is a disaster. Everyone has a cabinet like this in their kitchen. Under these things are always a disaster at people’s kitchens, I’m trying to store a cleaning supply but you have these obstacles in the way like garbage disposals and pipes. You’ve got to have a good system in place in order to see what’s actually in here so that you don’t buy duplicates when you go to the store. I’ve got a great system we’re going to install in this cabinet that’s going to change the way it looked, you look inside in here so you see what you actually have.
The division of extra shelving under the sink, we have increased the storage space in here amazingly. We’ve added great shelving right onto the door of a cabinet. This is an unusual spot it’s great for storing towel or small cleaning supplies. We’ve added this shelving system which works right in our garbage disposal. We’ve even taken thing that were in really large containers that take in lots of space, shrunken down. It’s great to buy in bulk because it helps you to save money like keep these things in a long term storage as we mentioned and keep only what you need on hand with something smaller like this.
And remember, a well-planned kitchen saved time and money. So start organizing, I'm professional organizer Liz Witts.
