How to Make Your Computer Run Faster
Hey guys. It’s your PC help here and welcome to another tutorial. In this video I’m going to show you how to make your computer run faster than it normally does.
So, the first step is to empty the trashes in your Recycle Bin because a lot of people I know leaves their trash in there and it could be using gigs and gigs and memory on you’re computer so just empty that Recycle Bin. And the second step is to right click on My Computer and go to Properties, and you should be getting a box like this. You want to go to the Advanced tab. And under Performance, hit Settings. And then by default, you have a bubble checked in “Let windows choose what’s best for my computer”. You want to go down “Adjust for Best Performance” or “Custom”.
Now if you adjust it for best performance, it will make you’re computer looks something like this, Windows Classic. So, I do custom and I checked off the last two things “Use visual styles, windows and buttons” and “use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop” then I hit Apply and then it will change you back to this then just apply your theme again. Let me do that real quick.
Okay. So you’re done with that and you can exit out of this and this and then the next step is going to the Start Menu and then going to Run and type “regedit” and this process will make your start menu appear faster. So, what you want to do is expand Hkey Current User and then expand Control Panel and then Desktop or just click once on desktop and scroll down until you see “MenuShowDelay”. And by default it will be set 400. But as you can see, mine is at zero. So, double click on that and set it to zero and hit enter and then exit out and that’s good for that. Your start menu appear faster.
Now, what you want to do is go to start again and the Run and the type in the run box, “%temp%” and hit OK. Now you’ll get a bunch of files like this. You want to Select All and delete them all unless they’re in use and then they will not delete. So, that’s how you know that this is safe because it will not delete something that cannot be deleted and you’ll get a message like that. Okay. Just go through and delete each one of these individually if you can’t delete them all at once and you should be good to go just like that. Go through and delete all you can and then exit out of that.
And the next step so going to start and Run again, and type in “Prefetch”, hit OK. And then you can delete all these files, very useless. It’s just taking up little bit of space. Just delete them all and then you can exit out of that. And the next thing is go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and then Disk Cleanup. Then if you have pick what disk you want to cleanup, my C Drive then hit OK. It will calculate what’s on your disk. And as you can see, you can cleanup all these programs. It’s safe. Disk cleanup comes with Windows so that’s how you know it’s perfectly safe and then you can just delet everything out of there by checking everything off and hitting OK and then YES, it will clean it up.
So while that’s cleaning that up, I’ll show you another one; System Tool, go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and then Disk Defragmenter. This program defragmenter system, it gives you some hard drive space back. Now I will warn you, this does take around 2 to 3 hours so don’t freak, or go somewhere or go to bed. So that’s it for that. And there’s one last thing. This is a Freeware called “C Cleaner”. C cleaner cleans your application in Windows for unnecessary files. So you got your Windows tab and your applications. And once you have everything checked off that you want, you just go ahead and hit Run Cleaner and just give it a minute to clean everything out.
There you go. They’ll tell you what to remove and I removed 273.8 megabytes. And once you’ve done that, you cam go to Registry and Scan for Issues. You can scam for issues in your registry. It might take a little bit but I guess we’ll just wait for it.
After you’ve done everything in this video, restart your computer for most of the changes to apply because it won’t work until you restart your computer. As you can see, it is done. I’m going to fix the selected issues by hitting this button and then this will come up “Do you want to backup changes to the registry?” hit No and then fix all selected issues, OK.
Now, the link will be in description to get this program. It’s a wonderful program. But anyway, that’s basically it for this tutorial. Please comment, rate and subscribe.
