Guy: There’s a caterer at the turn of the 20th century named Jamie Benedicte, and she started with this tradition with at her restaurant, she had a catering business as well. But since it’s Mother’s day, and we want to do everything that’s your favorite, a family only vegetable sandwich with cream cheese that I know of Girl: I was going to say its cucumbers first to be my favorite ingredient. Guy: Cream cheese is coming Girl: Yes, the cream cheese, it goes with it. Guy: Just going to take the seeds out of here Girl: And Bobby, you’re making the bread; you’re cut them in rounds Guy: I’m using this paper thin white bread to make for, test perfect for (voice overlap), don’t you think? Girl: Yeah it’s thin, now what are you going to do with your leftover bread? Tell me you’re not going to throw it in the trash. Guy: Yeah, I’m going to throw it away, I’m kidding. Maybe make croutons out of it or these papa/egg things that you like so much, you can do that with these. Girl: I love them Guy: But I will not waste it Girl: Okay as long as I know you’re not throwing it away. Guy: Oh you know I know better Girl: Where are you coming, son? Guy: Yeah it’s peeled, cut and seeded. So I’m going to drop them off the food processor, and I’m just going to pulse this until its ground up. Yeah, I think that’s good. Girl: That looks good. And there’s a lot of water in cucumbers Guy: Yup, I’m going to strain that out Girl: Okay, I’ll kind of mash the water out for you Guy: While you’re doing that I have to do the same process to a small onion. Girl: Okay, oh that onion’s going to give it a great flavor. Guy: That just smells so good. Okay, same thing, onions pulsed. Girl: Okay. Alright, Jamie I would suggest maybe use on about half this much on here, and you can see I’m drying the cucumbers and you can see how much water cam off of them. So we definitely wanted to get that water out off them because we don’t want this sandwich to be runny. Guy: Now can I have that? Girl: So smell then see what you think. See if you think it needs a little bit more that onion. Guy: It’s Mothers’ day, what would you like? I don’t smell the onion (voice overlap) Girl: That’s, you don’t? Well I tell you, it’s strong. Guy: And here comes your favorite part. Girl: I have the cream cheese? Guy: Eight ounces of cream cheese. The last thing I want to do with this, I’m going to put in a pinch of salt, just a dash of hot sauce, and one single drop of ((0:02:50) Girl: There’s one piece of onion skin. Okay Guy: One drop just to get that pretty green color Girl: This would be good to serve St. Patrick’s Day, since we do everything green here. So Bobby you’re just putting on a white coat of mayonnaise Guy: Yes ma’am Girl: On your bread and Jamie you just cut that already so if you move down there you can start putting on our sandwiches together, those look good Guy: I hadn’t told you lately I sure do love you, I sure presume that you love me Girl: I know you do son and love you too, I love both of you all so much Guy: yeah hey, happy Mother’s day Mom Girl: Thank you Guy: I’m great Girl: I think delicious; you’re just real cool and refreshing
