Julie Hasson: I’m Julie Hasson. Welcome to everydaydish I want to show you how to make one of my favorite Tofu recipes it is so simple to make, its fabulous on, busy work nights, schools nights things like that we have lot of things going on but you want something really healthy and delicious for dinner and this Tofu recipe is one of those recipes. And the recipe is by the very talented and cook book author Bryanna Clark Grogan and recipe is for her Breast of Tofu and the recipe appears in both of these books as well as other books authors I believe. And begin with what you need is a blog of very firm tofu and this was an extra-firm tofu I think its even high protein extra-firm tofu. It is really wanted to be pretty firm because it was too soft what happen is it will kind of fall part in the marinade and all you do is you want to slice it into thin slices because that it looks, I like this to thick and its the flavor doesn’t come to his match and too thin it fall parts you really just want to cut it slice it into pieces like this and when you make this you can absolutely double the recipe and you can make a bunch of it at a time and you can marinated for up to week at a time.
Which is what I love because then as I need a quick lunch or quick dinner I can just pull out what I need cook it and look at go, okay so we can do, finish slice in tofu here and now we have a tofu slice we are going to start in the marinade put this over here. For the marinade you want to put it into a container that’s big enough accommodate the marinade and you know I have a many pounds of tofu you want to put in and for this recipe I think use about pound of tofu for one back to the marinade, so just to show you because its works really well and then you discover was since ran up, we have our last -- pan and then we add the water and soya sauce and nutritional yeast and now because it really good flavor okay we have a some dried sage and dried rosemary and then I like to take rosemary just kind pinch a little bit break it up and now we has some dried thyme and granulated onion , okay you just put all of these ingredients in there, you whisk them together I mean how use this is great and then you lie your tofu slices in there.
And I would marinade them for at least a day before you cook them because that’s when you get there really good flavor until just stack in there and you ready to go, you cover with surround up you put it in your fridge and then you grilled up and before we do that I want to show you how to make the topping. Okay when we get some of these dishes -- okay for the topping and this is the breading mixture if you want to bread it for it, cooked up in a skillet or grill and I have here some brown rice flour, now you could use how we flouring could use regular flour the nice thing about the brown rice flour is that yet is some wheat freeze vanilla essence with wheat that definitely has been and on top of that it just gets really nice kind of crunchy texture on the tofu which I like lot, so this is a brown nice flour in organic one from Lundberg Farms, so I’m put there in, I have some more nutritional yeast flakes and the nutritional yeast flakes they are very high and B vitamins and there is protein in them so there is so good free to eat so it’s a great thing to incorporate in your meals
Okay, I have some onion, granulated onion, I have some salt and I have some granulated garlic and so that again simple, simple, mixes up together and then what we can do is when we come back I have marinated tofu we are going to bread it, we are going to cook it on our new grill. My tofu has been marinating all days we now I’m ready -- it so I’m – the fridge and get it out. All the tofu look fabulous, okay and this is another easy part is the breading of the tofu and all of your days you take your damp pieces of tofu whether damp because of the marinade but its great because then it make coating really stick to it and I just pressing us much of the coating as I can of the breading and then I am just going to stack here and so we just keep to in us all of the pieces or these all the pieces are you want to grill like you said you can keep this is your refrigerator up to week so you only need to pull up what you actually want to cook up.
And it’s also a fabulous in sandwiches or cold sliced and at a noodles or salads or so many different things you can do with this is tofu recipe and really it’s absolutely delicious. Okay so got our last piece here the tofu coating it in the breading and now we can take it outside and we can cook it up on out brand new awesome ever grill wait so you can –lot of this thing this is the ultimate in barbecues, okay so we’ve got the tofu of the outside
Okay we are ready to cook the tofu on this griddle grill -- okay so all you do as I lightly grease the grill and I’m going to go ahead and put the tofu right on there. Now if you were doing this in your kitchen and you could do a right and like non-stick pan or lightly greased -- tray in fan and it will work does as well its, you just want to brown on those sides and cook it in the middle little bit so that’s high that’s a great thing tofu its not like after cook it and tell its, at certain temperature or tell us no longer wait in the center its already cooked. Okay, got this on now we are going to do is we wait and we put that over in couple minutes, now when gets this nice golden brown color that’s when you want to flip it and you just – look at that’s so good and I’m telling that rice flavor this gets really criss crossed on it and you can add more oil as you need it will taste better with a little bit more oil I want – but I you are watching your way you just waste much oil then you can just spreads it with olive oil bottle.
There you go easiest simple and easiest and I’m telling you that flavor is fantastic. Now one more great thing about this grill is the clean up senility of an easy recipe but you have easy clean up and you just scrub everything of to the side and you grill the – you have write that.
