Hello, I’m Steven Phillips host of Great Cocktails.
You know one of my worst nightmares is that I’m attending bar naked but all of the rational fears aside. The last thing you want to do is serve a naked drink. So here’s a few garnishing ideas that will keep your cocktails on their best dressiness .
The classic twist is the envy of all garnishes. Cut off the ends of your lemon and then peal it with peering knife, then roll the peal up and slice it about a quarter of an inch wide. Now cut those crows down the size and there you have it the classic twist.
For something simpler cut a flat twist right off the side of your fruit. Get this you could flame this which caramelizes the citrus oils in the skin light a match hold it gently skin side down over your drink and watch the fire works then drop it your drink skin side up.
This one is one of my favorites its simple and simply glamorous cut citrus wheels or cucumber wheels add a slit and balance it on the rim of a glass beautiful.
Now let’s try something really cool. You’ll need a channel knife like this start at the end of a lemon or an orange and apply even pressure as turn the fruit, steady as you goes. Until you’ve turn the whole skin into a one long twist then curl it around your drink, fantastic.
For an outstanding garnish spear a raspberries, blue berries and black berries on a cocktail straw or short skewer and hang it across your glass doesn’t that look delicious. A good garnish can turn average drinks into great cocktails, salute.
