Male Speaker: I was tinkering with my garage doors since as the other day you know the kind that stop the garage door from closing on your caps tail and I though of a great way to protect my home using these the same sensors I always thought it would be great to be able to tell of somebody pulled into your drive way or walked on your property so here we go I picked up a gently used pair of garage doors sensors for 17 bucks I also decide to use a wireless door bell chain from alerter and I found a nice set up for 7 dollars that has a 500 foot range.
The first step is it use a photo cell I pick mine up at radio shaft it will triggered by the LED on the receiver so its got to be glued in place I try to open up the receiver housing but I didn't want to compromise it too much and also loose some of the water proofing so I mixed up a generous batch of GB volt and glow the photo sensor right over the LED after it was fully hardened I hit it with some black spray thing just to make sure that was no light seating into the photo sense. Now its time to build the circuit and its based on just five components.
Now here is the schematic for how I build the circuit I will go through every detail of building but basically here is how it works when the light of the photo cell is disrupted it triggers the six bolt relay which in turn triggers the switch for our transmitter so now its time to pop open that transmitter and remove the small circuit board and will be making it connection with this surface mantle switch using my Dremel I cut the circuit board to its smallest possible size so that every thing would fit inside of our small hobby box, everything will be powered by this five volt 1 amp AC adaptor and mantle the box which holds the circuit and the transmitter to the receiving door sensor then I took everything outside and mantle the transmitter using some old tens sticks I also mantle the receiver and ran the line in between the receiver and the transmitter in an expansion joint in my drive way.
The last step is to plug in the AC adaptor and give it a test whenever the infrared beam is broken it alerts me with the chi not only does this work night but it will with any intruder who wants to come on your property and these door sensors can also be used in doors as well that's how to make your very own infrared intruder alert system.
