From your pattern sheet, choose a border design to decorate a 12 x 18 and sheet of red construction paper. You may wish to pre-plan your drawings on sketch paper.
First, choose the Australian animal you want to draw and then sketch it lightly onto your red paper. Remember to avoid using fixed perspective. Draw a spinal cord and some shapes that could represent internal organs. Create a double outline around your animal and fill it in with some sort of patterns.
Don’t forget to use repeating lines of “Rrark” or hatching and cross hatching. Keep in mind the balance between areas of “Rrark” and areas of white. Fill in the negative spaces between the animal and border design with aboriginal symbols.
