Compiz by default, they have disabled the magic lamp effect to resemble like the genie effect and OSX. So if you’re going to tweak it and bring back to the old days, you know. This is what I mean if you guys don’t know what I’m talking about.
You see how you open this stuff like that, it goes ones move by. You go down ones move by. The lap effect it goes the way we like. And you know, you cannot edit that way so you got to se the hex setter to do it.
To begin with, you have to disable your Compiz right. So right click on your desktop and change desktop background here. And in the visual effects here, you’re going to disable Compiz, click on none right? So that’s how you disable that or temporarily to do this hex setter thing. First you got to install the hex edit here, ghex here in your synaptic package manager. Install that and now you got to busty out your terminal and you’re going to type this in, pause auto show on the side. So what you got to do in here is execute it and you see the hexeditor has been opened here. And what you got to do in here is click on Edit, go down to Find and you see this? a box in this side here. This is where you’re going o type in magic_lamp_max_waves. And get rid of the dot. And you’re going to click on Find Next here. As you can see, they have found thee red thing here on the side.
Now this is where you get to edit. You see where it says “min” and “max” in here. The middle number used to be a three so you change that to “0” like I do. Change it to a “0” and that’s all you got to do. All you got to do is go to File and Save. And that’s it. That’s how you got to do for that one. Now you got to repeat this step like three times okay? The first one is that other one with the “so” at the end but this one is with the fucking A at the end on the animation here. You see?
So you got to do this, and you repeat the same steps again. Go to Edit and find. Type that shit and again, magic_lamp_max_waves. Get rid of the dot. Now we find it over here and you go. You see? You change the min and max in the middle. This used to be a three. Change that to “0” like I have it and you go to save and that’s it. You and save it again, File, Save right? And then you exit it off.
And then the last one, let’s see the last one is an “.xml” here. Just don’t use the gedit to edit this. Okay? So the gedit. Now in gedit here right? We’re going to do almost the same thing okay? We’re going to go and search here and Find. And then you’re going to find this the same me magic_lamp_max_waves right? You find. Let me see where it at is. You see it right this line here right? I’m just going to link waves. Now you got to skip all these thing over here, all the language. And you’re going to go down through right here where it says “min” and “max here right? Change that. There used to be a “3” here like change that to “0” like I have it and save it also. Save this shit right? And that’s it. That’s all you got to do.
For the editing, so you close hat all off and now you got to open your Advance Copiz Manager right? And in your Animations, you got to go to minimizer here right? Animation. And you got to set that to magic lamp. And in the magic lamp, you got that now. Now you got to go to the effects settings here and you go down to the magic lamp and right to home. Right here, magic lamp. And as you can see the max waves, it used to be “3” by default; you can now change it right? But now you can go back down to “0” and that’s where you want to be. Because at “3” it looks something like this. If it get does that little thing there. That shit. But if you put “0”, doesn’t have any of that waves okay? See “0” and then you do that shit it goes straight down. So that’s how you do it.
Now that you have it, enable your compass again and you have the genie effects whatever the vacuum or whatever that shit is called. Okay? So that’s it.
