Here, I’ll show you how to make a small square box with a lid. Start by folding in half to make a rectangle. Crease and then unfold. Now fold in half to make a rectangle from the other direction. Crease and then unfold. Now fold the corners of your square into the middle crease that we’ve created.
From the small square, fold two sides towards the middle to make a rectangle. Now this next step, I’ll do a little differently from most people because I think it makes things a little bit easier. Flip the sheet over. Notice the “X” in the middle of the paper. Fold the ends of the sheet towards the middle of that “X.” Be sure you're making strong creases as you go because these are going to become important guidelines.
Now flip this over and unfold it to this point like so. From here, we’re going to fold the corners in to make the sides of the box to stand up. If you made good creases this should happen fairly naturally. Depending on how you're holding the paper, you might have to invert a few guidelines to make things fold properly. Once you have the two corners folded in, take the flap of the paper sticking up and fold it over and down. Repeat the process on the other side to finish the box.
And there’s your square box. Here I have one box and now I have many boxes. I have four origami boxes.
