How to Make a Kirigami Dragon Fly
On behalf of TVLesson.com, my name is Sherie Tengbergen. I’m a professional artist with the WatercolorGourmet.com. In this clip, I’m going to show you how to make a Kirigami dragon fly with duplicate wings and this is him right here. Now, you can use any kind of paper for Kirigami. This is my little pattern for the dragon fly and I’ve got some really neat iridescent paper and some shiny paper here. An old wrapping works very well also.
I’ve already traced my pattern down on my paper for his body and his little upper body part here and so I'm just going to go ahead and cut him out really quickly here. Again, as we’ve done before and this one is going to have a main body with the wings. It’s going to have two separate iridescent wings and then a body piece for his center body that’s going to go over the top when we’re done. I’ve already cut out his iridescent wings to save on time but I wanted to show you how we get the actual dragon fly cutout.
So there we got almost there. We got a couple little feet here. Dragon flies are in nature can very beautiful and sometimes they actually are iridescent blue and green so that’s why I picked this color paper for this project. So he’s been cut out now and now I'm going to cut out his little body just like a round, oval.
And now, you see I’ve got the body of my dragon fly. I’ve got his center part and the two wings. So I'm going to take some glue just right here on the center and I'm going to first of all paste the wings. And I liked to bend them a little bit so that they’ll stick up and then I'm going to go ahead and bend that one. I’ve got this with the wings and then bend that one up. And the last thing I'm going to do is put some more glue on the back of his body and I'm going to glue this down and we have the body part of the dragon fly. And you can go ahead if you want to with either blue or with black and put a couple of eyes or make a head and put some lines on his tail. And that’s how you make a dragon fly.
On behalf of TVLesson.com, this is Sheri Tengbergen and thank you for watching.
