This drink is called an Old Fashion which is kind of an old drink you probably won’t ran into too many of them. And it was primarily a before dinner cocktail, so what we’re going to do is use our rock glass, and then we’re going to take our bar spoon, put the bar spoon and sugar right in by itself then what we’re going to do is take a dash of bitters.
Now, bitters is an alcoholic substance. It’s mixed with a various herbs and spices. It’s very, very powerful, and very, very potent. It’s got real interesting aroma to it and sometimes they used it in cooking, and also they say that bitters will sometimes settle the stomach.
So we’ve got our bitters. We’ve got our sugar in there. Then what we’re going to do is we’re going to put ice in there in our glass. Our recipe calls for one ounce of our whiskey, then fill it up with our club soda or seltzer water which is just a carbonated water, water with bubbles in.
You want to kind of maybe get a little stir with your bar spoon to elude some of that sugar and to mix with that bitters and to mix with the whiskey, and then what we’re going to do is we’re going to garnish it with one of our cherries like so.
And there we have it, Old Fashion, very simple drink, sugar, bitters, whiskey, pop soda which is nothing more than sparkling water garnish with the cherry, Old Fashion.
