Hi, I’m Chef Jason Hill, and I want to show you breakfast Casserole Recipe that you can assemble tonight and pop in the oven first thing in the morning. You can use your favorite breakfast sausage, but if it’s not pre-cooked I recommend pre-cooking your sausage first, draining it and then start this recipe.
I have one pound of pre-cooked Italian Spice Chicken Sausage. At the same time, I purchase some pre-sliced mushrooms I’ve about 12 ounces right here. You only still have to cooking you have to do for these recipe is to sauté your mushrooms, that way you can release the water from them, if you don’t do that the mushrooms are going to release the water into the castor oil and then you have a watery consistency.
I have my pan pretty heat on high and I’m going to add about two tablespoons of olive oil, cook the pan and then I’m going to add the mushrooms and sauté down until you’re cooked. After about five minutes the mushrooms are cooked down and they are ready to be drained and set aside.
Now whisk the eggs and milk together, start with our ingredients, I have five whole eggs, two cups of milk you can half-and-half you prefer, add dried mustard and sea salt. Now to assemble we are going to start with a 9/13 castor oil dish. Five slices of sourdough bread buttered on one side, and cut in half. First start by placing the bread butter side down, next I dice the sausage into small pieces. Sprinkle the bread with the chop sausage. Next I add the mushrooms, sprinkle our green onions on there, all are by our green chilies, you can use diced Jalapenos if you want to spice your version. Spread evenly with the cheese. Now slowly and evenly pour in your milk and egg mixture. And lastly, sprinkle the black olives on top. This is ready to be covered and set in refrigerator until tomorrow morning.
Good morning, this is going to be great, all I got to do is uncover this put it in the oven, and place this in a 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes.
