Audra Lowe: You sit on your sofa 10 minutes a day but you sleep in your bed 8 hours a night. So we brought in top designer Jennifer Adams who has researched and developed the best way to make your bed for a good night sleep. Jennifer invited us into her own bedroom to show you how easy, affordable and worthwhile it is to recreate the same bed for each person in your family, take a look.
Jennifer Adams: It's really critical to pay attention from the foundation all the way up as you make your bed. So this is a mattress I choose to sleep on was in fact added in to our Jennifer Adams home line it's our eternal mattress. It's got a really dense foam top and a great coil system and it just so, so comfortable.
So the next, because your mattress is a really a lifetime investment you want to protect it. So we have a mattress pad protector and I too use one that's easy to get around the base of the mattress and its got lots of room and it's a really thick plush top with a nice Egyptian cotton finish on the top of it. Then you want to add a mattress topper to add that extra layer of indulgence. I like to have a mattress topper whether I'm doing a pillow top mattress or even a European top with no pillow top because it really just adds a extra, extra comfort and cushion, we really don't know what is making the bed so comfortable often times its this.
Then secondly you come to your fitted sheet. We have one in our line that is a microfiber. It's the most unbelievably soft fabric that I have ever experienced and I have experienced fabrics all around the world in every resort. So this is just one of the most indulgent fabrics, its wrinkle resistant and its eco-friendly. And I figure if one little thing that you can do it help out the environment if you can buy eco-friendly sheets you may as well sleep on them if they are going to feel this comfortable and this durable.
Then you come to your flash sheet and then you come to the blanket. I like to have a lightweight blanket, so that you are not too way down in the middle of the night. You also have options so if get a little chillier you can have all your layers on but if you are a little warm, you can take some of the layers off and go down to this blanket. It's really critical with your blanket that there is nothing abrasive on it, it's not too heavy of a pattern, but it feels really good against your skin. So then you come to the final layer and that is your duvet cover. I'd like to keep the duvet cover something that's washable because it touches your skin.
So, I don't like this to be my decorative layer. Again this is our eco-friendly fabric that is wrinkle resistant and it's unbelievably soft and then on the inside of the duvet we have a fill, we've got either a down fill or a flow down fill. Then we get to the pillows. So, there is two pillows that you can get, you can get a poly pillow, you can also get a pillow that has down. Poly is best if you've got allergies because you are going to be sniffling the next morning when you wakeup and down is great because it is very soft. So, we've got what we feel are the two best of both of those products, so it makes it very simple. So, when I want to sleep at night, I like to pop myself upon a Euro sham.
So you want a really comfortable fill and then this is touching your skin so this has to be very, very soft. I don't like to keep this Euro sham too decorative, just very simple is nice. And than a lumbar pillow here out of the same fabric. If you notice this fabric from the Euro shams and the lumbar pillow matches the fabric on the blanket. So it just brings in a little bit of a texture change with -- still being very, very comfortable. Pillow cases, same fabric as the sheets, eco-friendly, wrinkly resistant, unbelievably soft, I can't even tell you how soft these sheets are. Your sleeping experience is essential to your life and the lives of your family.
So why not make it good and we've made it very simple for you, it's the most comfortable soft sleepy experience. The only problem is you might not want to get out of bed.
