Welcome back to Powerhouse Kickboxing. Today, we are going to talk about medium and high roundhouses; how we are going to build them and body work.
First, we are going to do a Speed roundhouse. Yeah, and I'll show you and then I will talk. Again, one more time. Second type is a Muay Thai, and kind of -- lift knee, it's small hip motion through the target and we are going to close the kick turning hip down. And third one, we are going to go like kicking through the target, kind of spinning around.
So body shot, roundhouse body shot. You need to lift your knee a little bit to side and up, and then you flip your hip, again remember arm is going to back for your support. So see knee is not going over here, this is mistake because all momentum is shifting this way, you need to send all your body weight and momentum through your shin, through the target. So this way, knee should go inside and can go through there forward behind the target. One more time see. Again, one more time, back in position, you see.
And now finally, the Speed roundhouse. You don't go basically through the target with your hip. It's small shin involved, it's impulse, it's speed, is less power but it's small speed and its kind of sudden. Just taking from here. Knee is going straight to your chest. He can go kind of forward depending on the situation. You know what, the situation is all the difference in the sparring to fight. So you adjust the distance, the timing, but basically you don't go on the side. It's for more powerful kicks; you go straight up over here, you flip your hip, rotate and then release your shin. So you are standing from here and back in position.
So now we are going to experiment Muay Thai kick. You have to close your hip down, so kind of avoid the block, going over the block and connect the target, throw the block down. I'll show you again. You see. So your hip, your leg is going over and close down, so you need to rotate your hip. One more time.
Now the Follow Through kick. Again like on body kick, you need to send your knee over here, rotate the hip and follow through the target. From here, see. So all this leg, all of the body weight is going through, you rotate, see, you are not staying in here, you need to rotate. So you send all this hip, see from here, all this hip is going this way through the target. So put like maximum power on the head. Again, and rotate.
To practice your medium, high on how to strike, use different bags and surfaces, so as a different feel and again, you'll see all the difference, flip the hip, push it through and let's try this one. So our knee is going up and then you follow through. See back doesn't fly. If it doesn't move, you have no power. This one is just stopping, you know and you can kick me, it's sting but it's not going to like hurt me much.
You need to follow through. So you need to flip your hip and go through the target. You need to go penetrate tissue, break the ribs, so you got the picture. So, again rotate on your foot to get maximum power, so you involved more body weight in your leg and your butt. If you don't rotate, your joint is not going to rotate and you cannot see, follow through, you cannot send the momentum through the target, so you have to turn right now. One more time, back in position. Okay.
Now we are going to hanging bag. Higher. Okay, flip more. Middle. Again, again. Work a high kicks, medium and high kicks on different surfaces, on like standing bag, hanging bag, Bob dummy and pads. It will be different feel for every kick, so you have to adjust and get used to it to follow through no matter what target, what softness or how big it is. So you have to flip your hip and follow through, so try to use different surfaces. It will help you to develop and build powerful roundhouse.
