Doors and windows are major sources for heat loss in your home.
Hi, I am Mark Donovan from HomeAdditionPlus.com and today, I am going to show you how to add weatherstripping to your doors and windows.
First, you can buy a weatherstripping at any home improvement store in various thicknesses and sizes. It has a paper backing on it. You just have to peel this off and stick it along the door frame or window frame to provide that extra level of insulation on the door or window.
To install the weatherstripping, measure the width of the door first. Next, cut the weatherstripping to the length that is measured. Before installing the weatherstripping, wipe down the frame first so that you have a clean surface to bond the weatherstripping too. Now, peel back the tape and attach it to the doorframe. For windows, just peel around the base and size of the window and where you feel cool air coming in, add the weatherstripping. For windows, just apply the weatherstripping to the bottom of the window seal and then you can shut the window and that will be nice, tight, and sealed.
So that is it for weatherstripping. Very simple to do, it just takes a few minutes, and you can save yourself a heck of a lot of money on your energy bills this winter.
