Carrie Webb: Paul says—
Robbie Ferguson: Hey Paul.
Carrie Webb: Hi Robbie, could you recommend a system cleanup tool; Super Geek made or Butler. Something to clean up the messes I make. For example, downloads that didn’t install, impatient operator, hit Enter twice, now I have to two copies, among others; I don’t trust myself. I might throw out the operating system with the trash.
Robbie Ferguson: Paul, I actually—message Paul because he didn’t mention what Operating System he was using. He is using Ubuntu Intrepid. So I just brought up Synaptic Package Manager and see if we can just search for cruft; yeah there is program called cruft and by searching for that, you’re going to get a couple of different options there as well but this is a program to look over your system for anything that shouldn’t be there but is or for anything that should be there but isn’t. So, I’ve been interested to know if that’s kind of what you’re looking for there and I’m sure that it’s a—it’s going to at least get you started, so take a look at that, just get into Synaptic Package Manager, you’ll find that in System Administration, Synaptic Package Manager and then search for cruft.
Carrie Webb: Cruft.
Robbie Ferguson: Yeah. I’ll just double check, it is in the universe Repository. So what that means for you—see I am just looking at this, the file information. So make sure before—if you’re not seeing it in the list, go up to Settings, Repositories and we need to turn on the Universe Repository, you look over here, see? Universe.
Carrie Webb: Turn on the universe.
Robbie Ferguson: So just make sure that’s checked off. That’s the community maintained open source software and that’s going to give you access to cruft, which is really anticruft. Cool.
