Female Speaker: Here are the DIY Basics for storing valuables at home, brought to you by Farmers Insurance. Getting professional advice on storing valuables could be a wise investment of your time. Experts say you can start by stamping or engraving an ID number on all valuables, and video taping or photographing them.
These pictures along with the list of costing current value of each item can go in your bank deposit box. Small items can be hidden inside a hollowed out book, fruit container or bedpost.
Larger items and important documents can be stored in a fireproof wall safe. To install one, the wall should be free of plumbing and wiring. Once the outline on the safe has been traced on the wall, the wall port can be removed. 2-inch screws installed from the inside will secure the safe to the studs. Finally, a picture or wall hanging can hide the safe's location. With a few simple precautions, you can safely enjoy your valuables at home.
