How to Install a Light Chandelier by HomeAdditionPlus.Com
Hi! I am Mark Donovan from HomeAdditionPlus.com and today, I am going to show you simple kitchen remodeling tip. So what we are going to do today is replace this old light fixture with a brand new kitchen chandelier.
The first thing we are going to do is turn off the circuit breaker to the light. So, the next thing we are going to do is remove the knots of the hole in the cover plate to the existing light fixture. Next, we are going to disconnect the wire knots that are holding the wires to the light fixture. Next, we are going to remove the screw that is holding the ground wire to the mounting bracket. Next, we are going to remove the old mounting bracket from the fixture box. Next, we are going to install the mounting bracket to the light fixture box.
Next, to determine the length of chain you are going to need, I then open up one of the length to separate the length of the chain that you need from the remaining portion of the chain. I am using a pair of pliers to do this. Next, we will take our section of chain material, put it through the loop on the chandelier itself, and then tighten up the length with pair of pliers. Next, we will adjust the nipple height and the screws and then tighten up the mount to the appropriate height so that the cover plate is about halfway of the cover mount.
Next, we will slide the threaded ring and the canopy or the chain that is connected to the chandelier. Now, we are going to hang the chain on the collar loop and tighten up with a pair of pliers. Now, we are going to thread our wire to every other loop of the chain and up to the collar loop, and into the light box texture. Now that we have thread the wire through the screw collar and the nipple we are going to attach the ground associated with the fixture box itself and the light fixtures itself to the green knot on the mounting bracket.
Now, we are going to attach the smooth wire coming from the light fixture to the black supply lid coming out the fixture box and tie it up with a wire knot. Now, I will take the red insulated wire coming from a light fixture, attach to the white wires in the light fixture box, and again tie it up with the wire knot.
Now we will push the wire knots up into the light fixture box and then slide the canopy up over the mounting bracket and then use the ring knot and tight it on to the mounting screw. Next, we will separate the chandelier sections into about 120 degrees separation from each other. Now, we are going to attach the globe to chandelier fixtures itself. Now, install light bulbs into the chandelier itself and we are nearly done.
So, with the circuit breaker turned back on and switched on, we have completed our chandelier light fixture. This took about 30 minutes to do and really just dress up our kitchen quite a bit.
