Hi! I am David Lupberger with servicemagic.com. In this video, we are going to talk about some simple steps that you can follow to really increase the curb appeal of your home. Now these are simple things, but they are things that most of us just don't think about. Let's start when people are walking up to your home, what the landscaping look like? Have the bushes been trimmed? Are there weeds in the garden? Are there any dead flowers? In a matter of an hour or two, you can clean this up, so that really it's a very fresh clean appearance as people walk up your walkway.
As a visitor comes to your front door, ask yourself what are they seeing. In this case, I see some unfinished paint, some peeling paint, not just here but even here on the porch railing. Again, this is a simple fix; some sanding and painting and this will be nice, fresh, and clean. If I look at the patio itself, you will see there is still some dead leaves and even some plants that are growing into the patio. So I'd want to take those off. You can, again, see some peeling paint over there on the railings. I am looking now at some of this porch furniture and here's some peeling fabric and again, I don't think about it but it is leaving impression on a potential visitor.
As I am standing at the door is there dust that I could clean so that door is clean. So not only is there dust on the door, but I am looking at this wreath and you can see, there is a bird's nest on the front door. It's a nice feature but not a very good feature when you are trying to sell you home. And I bring this up also because imagine, if you are trying to sell your home and a potential buyer is coming to your home for the first time and as the Realtor comes to your front door and spends 30 to 45 seconds to get the lock back open, that potential buyer is standing on your porch and looking at each one of these things and asking themselves, has this home been taken care.
So one of the things you should also look at is, are the screens good, there is no torn screens, are the windows clean, are there any surfaces where dust is remaining. Those are the simple things that you can take care off, so that not only when a potential buyer, but when visitors come and stand on your porch, it's welcoming, it's fresh, and it's clean. These are just some simple things you can do to vitally increase the look of your home.
